In a decision by Justice Julie Blackhawk at the Federal Court of Canada, the removal of a non-binary American has been halted. Citing the recent changes in conditions in the U.S. for queer and trans people, Justice Blackhawk's decision could be precedent-setting for other Americans seeking safety in Canada.

Our office continues to be inundated with inquires from terrified Americans since Mr. Trump was elected in November 2024. The judiciary recognition of how dangerous this administration has been for queer and trans people is incredibly exciting.
