¡Hoy tenemos noticias conmovedoras que compartir! Canadá está dando un paso significativo para dar la bienvenida a 11,000 solicitantes de América Central y del Sur.
Como Coordinadora de Alcance Comunitario Latinx en BMLG, estoy encantada de anunciar que Canadá está abriendo sus puertas a 11,000 colombianos, haitianos y venezolanos a través de una nueva vía de residencia humanitaria permanente. Ciudadanos de estos países calificarán para este programa si son hijos (independientemente de su edad), nietos, cónyuges, parejas de concubinato, padres, abuelos o hermanos de un ciudadano canadiense o residente permanente.
Esta iniciativa reafirma el compromiso de Canadá con la inclusión y el humanitarismo. Sin embargo, hacemos un llamado al gobierno canadiense para que garantice que los miembros de la comunidad LGBTQ+ en América Central y del Sur tengan un acceso equitativo a estas oportunidades. La comunidad LGBTQ+ en estas áreas sigue siendo una de las comunidades más marginadas. Por lo tanto, instamos al gobierno de Canadá a considerar las circunstancias especiales de nuestros compañeros miembros de la comunidad y reservar algunos lugares para que los miembros de la comunidad LGBTQ+ sean considerados para este programa.
Al mismo tiempo, a medida que continuamos viendo el creciente número de migrantes latinos, es importante destacar que organizaciones como Vivi'r LGBTQ+ juegan un papel vital para ayudar a los recién llegados a establecerse y prosperar en Canadá. We have some heartwarming news to share today! Canada is taking a significant step towards welcoming 11,000 Applicants from Central and South America.
As the Latinx Community Outreach Coordinator at BMLG, I'm thrilled to announce that Canada is opening its doors to 11,000 Colombians, Haitians, and Venezuelans through a new humanitarian permanent residence pathway. A citizen from one of these countries will qualify for this program if they are a child (regardless of age), grandchild, spouse, common-law partners, parent, grandparent or sibling of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
This initiative reaffirms Canada's commitment to inclusivity and humanitarianism. However, we call upon the Canadian government to ensure that members of the LGBTQ+ community in Central and South America have equitable access to these opportunities. The LGBTQ+ community in these areas remains one of the most marginalized communities. Therefore, we urge the government of Canada to consider the special circumstances of our fellow community members and reserve some spots for members of the LGBTQ+ community to be considered for this program.
At the same time, as we continue to see the increasing number of Latinx migrants, it is important to highlight that organizations like Vivi’r LGBTQ+ plays a vital role in helping newcomers settle and thrive in Canada. Hence, we urge the government to collaborate and effectively support organizations like Vivi’r to ensure successful integration of newcomers.
While we celebrate this positive step, we must also focus on the practicalities of implementation to ensure that these newcomers have the best chance at a successful and fulfilling life in Canada.
